About Tom Tops

Tomtops is an independent buying guide site. We research products across home, kitchen, tech, health, baby, pets and fashion, and we publish guides that say which option suits which person and why. Every guide is built the same way, and the method is written out in full on our how we pick page.

Independent and deliberately small. Tomtops is independently run and deliberately small rather than a large newsroom. That means fewer guides than the big review sites publish, and it also means nobody here is under pressure to hit a weekly quota by padding a list with products that do not deserve a place on it.

What we cover

We write buying guides for everyday purchases where the choice is genuinely confusing: too many near identical options, too much marketing language, and not enough plain comparison. Our categories currently span home and garden, kitchen, tech, health and lifestyle, baby and kid, pets, fashion and gifts.

Most guides follow the same shape. A direct answer at the top for readers who want one recommendation and nothing else, a comparison table for readers who want to see the whole field at once, then individual write ups explaining who each product suits and what it trades away.

How we work

We do not test products ourselves, and we never claim otherwise. What we do instead is apply a consistent selection bar, verify every specification against the manufacturer disclosure or an independent standard, and organise picks by use case rather than by price. Where a marketing claim is not supported by evidence, we say so in the guide.

The full method, including the ratings threshold products must clear and how we handle health topics, is on the how we pick page.

Editorial independence

No brand pays for a position in a Tomtops guide, and no brand sees a guide before publication. We earn commission through the Amazon Associates programme when a reader buys through one of our links, at no additional cost to the reader. Products are chosen before commission is considered, and we do not display prices in product cards so that a guide cannot drift into becoming a pricing pitch. The full arrangement is set out on our affiliate disclosure page.

Get in touch

If a guide is wrong, out of date or missing something obvious, we would rather hear it than not. Corrections go into the article itself. Reach us through the contact page, and browse the current number one pick from every guide on our top picks hub.
